Juno's on the scent…
The evidence behind the coverage figure on our home page, worked out from the Bank of England's lists and the banks' own accounts.
We start from the Bank of England's lists of every bank and building society regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority (Bank of England, Which firms does the PRA regulate? (banks and building societies lists), as at 2026-10-01). We checked every firm on them by hand to see whether it sells savings to the public direct.
| Firms on the PRA lists | 322 |
|---|---|
| less: No personal savings: wholesale, corporate, trade finance or lending only | −127 |
| less: Private banks: savings for existing wealth clients only | −24 |
| less: Closed to new savers, winding down their UK business, or under sanctions | −13 |
| less: Sell personal savings only through platforms such as Raisin, not direct | −11 |
| less: Savings for businesses, charities or institutions only | −10 |
| less: Not covered by the FSCS (Gibraltar-protected) | −6 |
| less: Brand whose savings are held by another bank we list, or by a partner bank | −3 |
| Firms that sell personal savings direct (322 − 194) | 128 |
| Of those, listed on Juno Hunt now | 121 |
| Coverage: 121 ÷ 128 | 95% |
Every firm, and why each one not listed isn't, is on our Banks A to Z page. These figures are worked out live from what's published, so they move as banks are added or held back.
Why our home page counts 144 savings brands but 121 banks: the PRA regulates firms, and some firms sell savings under more than one brand (Halifax and Bank of Scotland are one firm, for example). 9 of the brands aren't on the PRA lists at all, such as NS&I, which is part of government, and credit unions. So 144 brands = 135 brands of the 121 PRA firms we list + 9 outside the PRA lists.
Counting banks treats a small specialist bank the same as a high-street one. So we also looked at how much money sits with the banks that sell savings direct but that we can't list, because they publish no rate we can use. We took each one's customer deposits from its latest published accounts.

UK households hold £2,065bn with banks and building societies (Bank of England, Money and Credit, September 2026 (published 29 October 2026), Table J: M4 households, amounts outstanding, seasonally adjusted).
£2,411.4m ÷ £2,064,782m = 0.12%. The banks we can't list hold about 0.12% of the money UK households keep with banks and building societies, and that overstates it: their figures include business deposits too, which none of their accounts separates out.
Deposit figures checked 5 November 2026. We update them when new accounts are published.
