How we rank, and how we're paid
We put the highest rate first. Who pays us has no say in the order. These are the rules, version 1.2.0.
Which accounts we list
Savings accounts and cash ISAs from UK banks, building societies and credit unions authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority, so every one is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, and savings from NS&I, which is part of government and backed by HM Treasury instead. We list cash accounts only, never stocks and shares ISAs or other investments.
Accounts we don't list
We list accounts you open directly with the bank or building society that holds your money. We don't list savings sold through apps and platforms where another bank holds the deposit, such as Revolut (held by ClearBank), Trading 212, Chip, Moneybox, Raisin, Flagstone and Hargreaves Lansdown Active Savings, even when their rates are higher. Their protection, terms and fees depend on the platform as well as the bank, so they can't be compared like for like with a direct account. If you use one, check which bank holds your money: your FSCS limit is shared with anything else you hold at that bank.
Our own group's bank
Manx Financial Group, which owns Juno Hunt, also owns Conister Bank. We list Conister's accounts because leaving them out would make the market look smaller than it is. They are ranked by AER alone, exactly like every other bank's, never moved up or given extra space, and labelled "Our group" wherever they appear. Conister's UK deposits are held by its UK branch and protected by the FSCS.
How the order is set
- We show only accounts that take your amount and let you reach your money in the time you chose.
- We sort them by AER, the yearly rate including any bonus, highest first.
- If two rates are equal, the lower minimum deposit comes first, then the easier access.
- Accounts only open to a bank's existing customers are hidden unless you ask to see them.
- You can choose to see only banks above a customer rating. That hides banks; it never reorders the rest, and banks without a rating are hidden while it's on.
Where a rate includes a bonus, we show the rate it falls to and when. Earnings figures assume the bonus ends on time and that variable rates stay as they are today.
Lifetime ISAs, Junior ISAs and children's accounts
These have rules of their own (a government bonus, money locked until 18, accounts in a child's name), so we rank each kind only against its own kind, in its own table, by AER in the same way. They never appear in an ordinary search unless you choose them.
- Lifetime ISAs: the AER is the provider's interest only. The government's 25% bonus is the same at every provider, is never added to the AER and never changes the order. Earnings show interest and bonus on separate lines.
- Children's accounts: easy access, regular savers and fixed bonds are separate tables. A fixed bond longer than the time you chose is left out, as with any fixed account.
NS&I and Premium Bonds
NS&I accounts that pay interest are ranked by AER alongside banks' accounts. NS&I is part of government: its savings are 100% backed by HM Treasury rather than the FSCS, and our FSCS planner never adds NS&I money to a bank's £120,000 limit. Premium Bonds pay prizes, not interest, so they have no AER and are never ranked against any account. We show NS&I's published prize fund rate and odds on their own. NS&I and Premium Bonds. Help to Save is a government scheme with one provider, so we explain it but don't rank it.
Changes to these rules
- 1.0.0: rate first; ties by minimum deposit, then easier access.
- 1.1.0: an optional customer-rating filter, which hides banks and never reorders.
- 1.2.0 (30 October 2026): Lifetime ISAs, Junior ISAs and children's accounts added, each ranked only against its own kind; the Lifetime ISA bonus kept out of the AER; Premium Bonds shown but never ranked; NS&I shown as HM Treasury backed.
Where the rates come from
Every rate comes from the bank's own website, not from another comparison site. Juno, our software agent, reads each listed bank's savings pages, checks that each rate actually appears on the page, and holds anything unusual (a big rate move, a page that suddenly lists nothing) until a person has checked it. Every account shows when it was last checked and links to the page it was read from.
How we're paid
Using Juno Hunt is free. Some banks pay us a fee when someone opens an account through our link. We list accounts whether or not the bank pays us, and the fee never changes the order. We label any paid placement clearly, and it never appears inside the ranked results.
What we don't do
We don't give personal advice or tell you which account is right for you. We never take or hold your money: you always apply and pay in on the bank's own website.
